1. The Fall Lauderdale Isles Waterway Cleanup is only for the waterways of Lauderdale Isles & the event is open to residents of Lauderdale Isles only. The reason for this is because the event is funded by LIWMD and LICIA. LIWMD’s source of funds is the tax assessed on every waterfront home in the neighborhood. LICIA’s source of funds is dues paid by Members in Good Standing who live in the neighborhood. Thus, it would be inappropriate to pay for T-shirts, barbecue food, etc., for people who do not live in Lauderdale Isles. We will be strictly enforcing this, so don’t try to register some friends who don’t live in the neighborhood. We will be checking residency!
2. You must pre-register for the event at www.liwmd.org. Registration and participation is free, but you must pre-register. The reason for pre-registration is that we have to commit to the exact number of participants for T-shirts, food, etc. Having people show up who have not registered makes it a difficult situation for everyone, so pre-register on the website. Walk-ins are not permitted, so you cannot show up not-registered and try to pay to participate.
3. YOU CANNOT REGISTER FOR SOMEONE ELSE – This was done in the past and caused a great deal of consternation for everyone, especially when phony email addresses were submitted. After you have registered successfully on our website, you will receive an email confirmation back from us within 7 days. If you don’t receive that confirmation email, you’re not registered.
4. When you register on-line, you will be asked for the “primary contact name.” All the information for your group will be under this person’s name. The primary contact should be a father, mother, etc.
5. Prizes: We will award lots of prizes for different categories such as “most unique thing found,” “ugliest thing found,” etc. There will be a drawing for a special prize just for the boaters who participate. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN.
6. Every participant will have to sign a liability waiver before participating. A parent needs to sign the waiver for a child under 18 years of age.
Please keep the above information in mind, so we can have another great Waterway Cleanup!
